Privacy Policy
1. The short version
We do not sell your personal information. We never rent it, trade it, or pass it to other agencies. When you ask Block Agency for a quote, your request stays with our office.
We use what you tell us to prepare your quote, contact you about it, and, if you choose, get you a policy. We share it only with the insurer you are quoting with, the service providers that help us run this website and our office, and anyone the law requires us to tell. That is the whole list.
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time. You can stop our calls and texts at any time. Reply STOP to any text, or call or email us.
The rest of this page gives the details. If something is unclear, call us at (651) 252-6655. We are happy to explain it.
2. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Block Agency LLC, doing business as Farmers Insurance - Block Agency ("Block Agency," "we," "us," or "our"), handles personal information collected through blockagencyinc.com (the "Site") and through calls, texts, and emails connected to the Site.
We are a Farmers Insurance® agency owned by Ryan Block, located at 1121 Town Centre Drive, Suite 101, Eagan, MN 55123. We are licensed in Minnesota (license #40025895) and Wisconsin. We are an insurance agency, not an insurance company. The insurer that issues your policy makes the final decisions about eligibility, price, and coverage.
Farmers' own privacy notice
Farmers Insurance Exchange and its affiliates have their own privacy notice: https://www.farmers.com/privacy-statement/. This policy covers how our agency handles your information. Once a policy is placed with Farmers, Farmers' privacy notice governs how Farmers handles your information. If Farmers isn't the right fit and we place your coverage with another insurer, that insurer's privacy notice governs its handling of your information, and we will tell you which insurer it is.
3. Minnesota insurance information notice
Minnesota's Insurance Fair Information Reporting Act (Minn. Stat. 72A.49 to 72A.505) applies to insurers and insurance agents, including our agency. It governs how information collected in connection with an insurance transaction may be gathered, used, and disclosed.
- Notice of Information Practices. The insurer provides its Notice of Information Practices no later than the time you apply for coverage. That notice explains what information the insurer may collect from other sources, such as driving records and claims history, and your rights to see and correct it. You can read Farmers' Notice of Information Practices at farmers.com.
- Marketing and research questions are optional. Our quote form asks only for information used to prepare your quote. It does not ask questions solely for marketing or research. If we ever add one, it will be clearly marked as optional, and you will not have to answer it to obtain coverage.
- Limits on disclosure. We do not disclose personal or privileged information gathered in connection with an insurance transaction except as Minnesota law allows, such as to get your quote or policy, to prevent fraud, to respond to regulators or legal process, or with your written authorization.
4. Information we collect
Information you give us
Our quote form asks for:
- Contact details: first and last name, phone number, email address, and street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
- Rating details: date of birth, gender, and marital status.
- Auto details: the year, make, and model of up to four vehicles, and the number of drivers.
- Home details: whether you own your home, property type, approximate age, square feet, and number of stories.
- Current insurance: whether you are currently insured, your current auto insurer, and your current home insurer.
Our shorter quote request form also asks for the type of coverage you want, the best time to contact you, and any notes you choose to add.
About date of birth, gender, and marital status. We treat these as sensitive. Insurers use them to rate a quote, so we use them only for that purpose. We never use them for advertising, and we never send them to advertising platforms.
We do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or payment card or bank account numbers on this Site. Please do not send them to us by ordinary email or text. If an insurer needs them later, we will collect them through a secure process.
If you tell us about other drivers or household members, please share their information only with their permission.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: your IP address is used to estimate your city so the quote form can show local details. We do not use it to find your exact location.
- Device and usage information: browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and the page or ad that brought you here. Our hosting provider records basic server logs.
Information from calls and scheduling
If you call or text us, we receive your phone number and the content of what you tell us. If you book an appointment through an online scheduler, we receive the details you enter there.
5. How we use it
- To prepare the insurance quote you asked for, and to apply for coverage if you decide to move forward.
- To contact you about your quote by phone, text, or email, as you agreed.
- To check that your phone number and email address are real and reachable, which cuts down on errors and fake submissions.
- To service your policy and answer your questions if you become a client.
- To understand how people use our Site and whether our advertising works.
- To prevent fraud, protect our Site, and meet our legal, licensing, and recordkeeping duties.
Your information is not used to train artificial intelligence models.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We never share it with lead buyers or with other agencies for their marketing. Your information stays inside our agency except in the situations listed below.
- The insurer you are quoting with. To get you a quote or a policy, we send your information to Farmers. When Farmers isn't the right fit and you ask us to shop other insurers, we share it only as needed to get those quotes (for example, with Farmers' brokerage affiliate and the insurer quoting you), and only for the quote or policy you asked about. Insurers may also check driving records, claims history, and other reports as part of underwriting.
- Service providers under contract. These companies help us run the Site and our office, such as web hosting, form delivery, address lookup, and contact verification. They may use your information only to provide services to us. They are listed in the website tools table below.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information when the law requires it, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or a request from an insurance regulator. We may also disclose it to prevent fraud or to protect someone's safety.
- Sale of the agency. If our agency is sold or merged, client records may transfer to the new owner, who must protect them as this policy describes.
- With your permission. We will share your information in any other way only if you ask us to or agree to it.
7. Calls and text messages
When you submit a quote request and agree to be contacted, we may call and text you at the number you gave us about your insurance quote and related insurance products and services. These calls and texts may use automated technology or an artificial or prerecorded voice. Your consent is not a condition of buying anything.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- To stop texts, reply STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE, or OPT OUT to any text from us.
- For help, reply HELP or call (651) 252-6655.
- To stop calls, tell us on any call, call or email us, or write to us. Any reasonable way of telling us works.
We honor every opt-out as soon as we can, and always within 10 business days. An opt-out stops all marketing calls and texts from our agency. If you are a client, we may still contact you about your existing policy, such as a renewal, a billing problem, or a claim.
We make marketing calls only between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. local time, the calling hours Minnesota law sets. We follow the same hours for Wisconsin.
Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your text messaging opt-in and consent records are not shared with any third party, except the service providers that deliver our forms and messages (such as our form-delivery and texting providers).
8. Do Not Call
We keep an internal Do Not Call list and honor requests for ten years. To be added, tell anyone in our office, call (651) 252-6655, or email info@blockagencyinc.com.
Before we make a marketing call or send a marketing text to anyone who has not asked us to contact them, we check the number against the National Do Not Call Registry. We use a copy of the registry that is no more than 31 days old. For Wisconsin numbers, the national registry also serves as Wisconsin's no-call list. You can register your number at donotcall.gov.
9. Cookies and website tools
Our Site uses a small number of outside tools. Some of them receive your IP address and basic browser details when a page loads. Here is each one and what it does.
| Tool | What it does | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the Site and delivers pages to your browser. | IP address, browser details, and pages requested, kept in server logs. |
| Zapier | Delivers your quote form to our agency's customer records system and email. | Everything you enter on the quote form. |
| Lead source (stored in your browser) | Remembers how you first reached our Site, such as a search engine, an ad or another website, so we know where quote requests come from. It is saved in your own browser's local storage under the name block_src for up to 30 days and is only sent to us if you submit a form. | The address of the first page you visited, the page that linked you here, and any campaign tags in that address. |
| Logo.dev | Loads small insurance company logos on the quote form. | IP address and browser details. |
| Google Maps and Google Places | Shows maps of our office and suggests full addresses as you type on the quote form. | IP address and the address characters you type. |
| ipapi.co | Estimates your approximate city from your IP address so the quote form can show local details. | IP address. |
| AbstractAPI | Checks that an email address and phone number are valid when you send a quote request on our site. | The email address and phone number you enter. |
| Google Fonts | Loads the typefaces used on the Site. | IP address and browser details. |
| Calendly | We may use it to let you book an appointment online. | The name, email, phone, and notes you enter when booking. |
| Call tracking | We may use it to learn which page or ad led you to call us. | Your phone number, the time and length of the call, and the page you came from. If a call is recorded, we will tell you at the start of the call. |
| Meta Pixel and analytics tools | If enabled, we may use them to measure visits and whether our ads lead to quote requests. | Cookies, IP address, browser details, and pages visited. Never the contents of your quote form. |
We never send your quote form answers, such as your name, date of birth, address, vehicles, or insurance history, to any advertising platform.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of any sale of your personal information and of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information in any case, and we do not currently use advertising pixels. If we add them, they will not load in a browser that sends GPC.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for what Do Not Track means, so we rely on GPC instead. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site and the quote form will still work.
10. How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. The Site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and only people in our agency who need your information to help you can see it.
No website, email system, or office is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that your information will never be accessed without permission. If a security incident affects your information, we will notify you and the appropriate regulators as the law requires.
11. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes described here. That includes following up on your quote, servicing your policy, and meeting legal, regulatory, and recordkeeping duties. Records tied to a policy or a claim are kept as long as the law and our agreement with the insurer require. Records of your contact preferences, such as Do Not Call requests and consent records, are kept long enough to honor them. When we no longer need information, we delete or destroy it securely.
12. Your privacy rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete your information, except what the law or an insurer requires us to keep.
- See the list of the specific outside companies that received your information from us.
- Opt out of marketing calls, texts, and emails, and of any targeted advertising.
The Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act (Minn. Stat. 325M) generally exempts licensed insurance producers like our agency. We honor these requests anyway. This applies to Minnesota and Wisconsin residents, and we will extend the same treatment to anyone who asks. We will not treat you differently or charge you more for making a request.
How to make a request
Email info@blockagencyinc.com, call (651) 252-6655, or write to us at the address below. We will confirm your identity before we release or change any information, usually by matching details you already gave us. We generally respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why, and we will not take more than 45 additional days.
Authorized agents
You may have someone else make a request for you. We will ask for written permission signed by you, and we may ask you to confirm your identity directly with us.
Appeals
If we deny your request in whole or in part, we will explain why in writing. You may appeal by replying to our decision or by emailing info@blockagencyinc.com with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line. We will take a fresh look at your request and give you a written answer within 45 days, with the reasons for our decision.
If you are not satisfied with the result, you may contact the Minnesota Department of Commerce at 651-539-1600 or 800-657-3602, or the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. Wisconsin residents may contact the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance at 800-236-8517.
13. Children's privacy
This Site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through the Site. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it. Information about a minor driver or household member that a parent or guardian provides for a quote is handled like the rest of this policy.
14. Other websites
Our Site links to websites we do not control, such as Farmers' website, Google Maps, and our social media pages. This policy does not cover them. Please read their privacy notices before you share information with them.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices, tools, or the law change. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If we make a material change to how we use or share your information, we will post a clear notice on the Site before the change takes effect. We will not use information we already have in a materially different way without your consent.
